GENERAL

WHEN AND WHERE IS CONVENTION?

The 2022 National Convention will take place from Friday, July 8, through Sunday, July 10, in Bellevue, Washington at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue.

IN WHAT TIME ZONE IS BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON?

Pacific Daylight Time

WHEN SHOULD I REGISTER?

Registration closed June 8. There will be no onsite registration.

WHAT MEASURES WILL BE IN PLACE WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ATTENDEES IN MIND?

Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the event. Frequent handwashing and limited physical touching (hugging, handshakes, etc.) are encouraged. Where opportunities exist, creating more distance between seats in meeting rooms will occur. Attendees will be reminded to not travel if displaying COVID-19 symptoms prior to traveling to Bellevue. Alpha Chi Omega continues to monitor developments with COVID-19 and may revise this information as new information becomes available.

I'M INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING. DO I NEED TO REGISTER?

Those members interested in volunteering should sign up via the volunteer sign-up platform when it is available and should register for convention – either part time or full time - via the standard registration form and pay the associated costs for their attendance. For additional information please email volunteer@alphachiomega.org or call Alpha Chi Omega headquarters at 317-579-5050.

IS THERE A DELEGATES MEETING?

All voting delegates should plan to attend the delegates meeting Friday, July 8, at 4 p.m. PDT. Please plan your travel accordingly. An additional virtual training for delegates will be held in June 2022 to review chapter meeting rules and protocol for elections. For questions please contact Billi Carson.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE CONVENTION CHOIR?

The convention choir is open to all alumnae and collegians of all skill levels, in large and small group settings. Participants in the convention choir will lead the convention attendees in song throughout the event. Fill out the convention choir interest form to participate; or contact Erin Parks with any questions.

WHAT IS STAR CHALLENGE AND WHEN DOES IT OPEN?

Star Challenge is a time-honored tradition to recognize those real, strong women who have empowered and supported your dreams. Each $10 gift you make to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation Star Challenge honors someone in your Alpha Chi Omega story, and all honorees will receive notification (via a star on their nametag for convention attendees and via email for non-attendees). Your gifts support the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation’s Real. Strong. Women. Fund, ensuring the life-changing benefits of Alpha Chi Omega for future generations, and are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. The Star Challenge will open for online giving in early June 2022.

WHAT IS THE HALL OF MEMORY?

The Hall of Memory is a time when we pay tribute to former national officers and sisters who have passed away since the 2018 National Convention. If you know of sisters you would like to see recognized during the Hall of Memory, please complete this form by Friday, May 20, 2022. Information received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be included for recognition at convention.

WHY WAS THE CONVENTION SCHEDULE SHORTENED?

The 2022 convention schedule was shortened to provide attendees flexibility to depart midday on Sunday. Previous post-convention survey feedback has shared that sisters desire to attend convention and also are balancing work and family commitments. By making this change, attendees are able to return home sooner, without missing parts of the official convention program.

This reduced schedule still allows us to incorporate many of our favorite Alpha Chi Omega customs, such as Reunion Night Dinner, Olympian recognition, chapter meetings, membership milestone ceremonies, celebratory receptions, Hall of Memory ceremony and inspiring education sessions. The price of full-time registration was reduced by $100 in consideration of the shorter schedule. Attendees who choose to stay for Sunday afternoon will be given the opportunity to participate in sisterhood and philanthropic activities.

I DON'T SEE THE OLYMPIAN LUNCHEON ON THE SCHEDULE. ARE WE STILL HONORING ALPHA CHI OMEGA OLYMPIANS ATTENDING CONVENTION?

Alpha Chi Omega has honored Olympians – those members who have attended three or more conventions – since 1928, and we will do so again at Reunion Night Dinner on Friday evening during the 2022 convention!

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED ATTIRE?

The best examples can be found by following Alpha Chi Omega on Pinterest, or by checking out our convention packing and prep page. Here a few reminders:
  • Badge attire is generally expected for all meals and education sessions. Don't forget your badge!
  • For Friday Reunion Night Dinner, spirit wear in the form of school colors or shirts from your college/university of initiation are encouraged! Bring along school pride decorations for your table as well, such as pennants and pompoms.
  • All attendees are required to wear all white, business casual (aka badge attire) and white or flesh-toned shoes for the first national chapter meeting Saturday.
  • Our Saturday evening Carnation Celebration is semi-formal attire as we celebrate the greatest accomplishments of our organization over the past two years.
  • Those participating in optional Seattle excursions may wear casual attire to those events.
  • Use our packing checklist to make sure nothing is forgotten!

WILL THERE BE ALPHA CHI OMEGA ITEMS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON-SITE?

Of course! Apparel, jewelry, décor and more will be made available from multiple on-site Greek Licensed Vendors. Visit our Sponsors & Vendors page to see who will be on-site for 2022.

  • Reunion Night dinner seating chapter preference (if attending Friday)

I'VE ALREADY REGISTERED. CAN SOMEONE ELSE ATTEND IN MY PLACE?

In most cases, yes. First you must contact the registration committee to let us know about the switch.

However, if you are attending as your chapter's voting delegate, you must first contact both the registration committee and Michelle Gafford, assistant director of chapter support, before any additional registrations or plans are made.

WILL ON-SITE REGISTRATION BE AVAILABLE?

Onsite registration will not be available for the 2022 National Convention. The last day for registration, available online, is June 8, 2022.

HOTEL & TRANSPORTATION

HOW DO I MAKE MY HOTEL RESERVATION?

Please use this link to book a room within the Alpha Chi Omega room block at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. To make a reservation via telephone, you may call 800-233-1234 and reference the group name Alpha Chi Omega or group code AXOM. This will allow you to reserve a room using the discounted rates available specifically for Alpha Chi Omega 2022 National Convention attendees!

WHEN BOOKING MY PLANE TICKET, WHAT SHOULD I KEEP IN MIND?

If you are traveling to convention by air, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is the nearest large airport. Alpha Chi Omega recommends researching the airline's policy related to COVID-19. Further, it is suggested that individuals consider purchasing a refundable ticket.

HOW DO I GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL?

From Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), the Hyatt Regency Bellevue is about a 30-minute drive away. Taxi and ride-sharing services, located on the third floor of the airport, are the recommended transportation from the airport to the hotel.

SINCE THE HOTEL OFFERS DOUBLE OCCUPANCY ROOMS, HOW DO I FIND A ROOMMATE?

While headquarters does not pair roommates, convention attendees can find a roommate to share the cost of the room. For your convenience, the Alpha Chi Omega National Convention 2022 Facebook Event page is an excellent place to connect with others interested in sharing accommodations. We also recommend reaching out to your local alumnae chapter to identify travel buddies and roommates.

Note: Alpha Chi Omega does not make hotel reservations on behalf of attendees. You are responsible for making your own hotel arrangements.
